Anita Shah is a litigation attorney whose practice has involved trials in both state and federal court, as well as arbitrations. She has litigated cases in diverse areas including labor and employment matters, governmental and municipal tort liability, insurance coverage and criminal law.

In the area of business litigation, she has participated in all phases of trial in employment discrimination and insurance coverage cases. Ms. Shah has litigated cases alleging fraud, defamation and other business torts that have involved both prosecuting and defending anti-SLAPP motions.

Ms. Shah previously worked in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office where she completed twenty jury trials and more than thirty court trials. She also has experience as legal counsel drafting opinions for the California State Controller, which served as the formal position of the State Controller on a variety of legal issues. Ms. Shah has defended state and local governmental entities in personnel hearings. Most recently, she prevailed in a significant pre-trial motion involving governmental tort immunity.

Ms. Shah received her J.D., with distinction from McGeorge School of Law. While in school, she clerked with the Sacramento County Public Defender; East Bay Community Law Center, Boalt Hall’s nationally-recognized clinical training program for law students; and a class action employment litigation firm. She obtained her B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Ms. Shah was affiliated previously with Bolender & Associates (2005-2007), McPharlin, Sprinkles & Thomas (1999-2000), Screen Actors Guild (1997-1998), Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office (1994-1997), and the California State Controller (1993 -1994).
